Atom Z2460 Review

The Intel Atom Z2460 is a part of Intel Medfield platform. The Atom Z2460 is made using 32nm manufacturing technology which makes it suitable even for use in cell phones and tablets. In fact, a phone by the name of ZTE Grand X IN and Lenovo K800 are already using it. It runs at 1.3GHz-2GHz and features 0.5MB L2 cache. It is single core and can handle up to 2 threads at a time.

Atom Z2460 Review

We were able to run Sunspider benchmark on it and were able to attain 1789ms score, which is pretty good. For comparison sake, iPhone 4s and Galaxy S3 got 2250ms and 1753ms respectively, which means that the Atom Z2460 should be as fast the quad core Exynos 1.4GHz processor being used in the S3. Wonderful.

We were not able to run tests like PCMark Vantage on it since our unit was running Android, not windows. Nevertheless, we were told that its performance is at par with Atom Z670 processor. This means its score would be under 1200 in PCMark Vantage, which is not bad at all.

We do not think that the Z2460 will make it to the netbooks or notebooks though since it lacks 64 bit support.
