The Rockchip RK3066 is a dual core processor based on ARM Cortex A9 architecture. Its GPU is quad core Mali 400 (250MHz) that handles the multimedia and hardware decoding of various types of media. The GPU is more than capable of smoothly playing back full HD videos. Maximum RAM supported by RK3066 is 2GB. All types of RAM (DDR1, DDR2, DDR3) are supported. Here are the Rockchip RK3066 benchmark results:
AnTuTu Benchmark: 7522 points. In comparison, Nvidia Tegra 3 (1.5GHz) got 10112 and Exynos 4412 (1.4GHz) got 12071. Antutu measures CPU, 2D graphics and 3G graphics performance of the chip.
NenaMark2: 50.9 fps. Exynos 4412 – 58.8fps; Tegra 3 (1.5GHz) – 52fps; Snapdragon S4 – 60.6fps. Nenamark2 is an excellent tool for measuring the graphics performance of the chip. As you can see, the Rockchip’s performance is at par with the Tegra 3.
Quadrant: 4040. Galaxy S3’s Exynos 1.4GHz processor got 5461. Tegra 3 got 4560. Snapdragon S4 was 4828. Quadrant measures CPU and GPU performance.
Rockchip Rk3066 is widely used in cheap Chinese tablets and we must say it is a huge improvement over previous Rockchip CPUs that were, simply put, downright pathetic. The new RK3066 is not king of the hill in world of mobile processors, but is not shabby too.
