One of the best things that were introduced in the Android Honeycomb operating system was the ability to connect various USB peripherals to your Tablet’s USB host. This, however, requires a full USB port which is unfortunately lacking in Galaxy Tab 10.1. Samsung came up with a solution and is now offering an adapter for that converts its bottom port to an USB port.
The USB convertor will cost you 20 dollars and does not supplies power over the USB port. Here is a picture of it. As you can see, it is very small in size. I plugged in my wireless Logitech mouse and it was recognized by it immediately and a message saying “USB device connected” popped up.
Everything worked like a charm. Keep in mind that if you plug in that requires a lot of power to work, you will get an error message tell you “High power USB device connected”. I do not like the fact that it requires a bit of force to plug it in and even after when it is inside, it feels like a loose fit, something not expected. I also feel it is a bit on the expensive side. It is available for 25 dollars from here. (Amazon)
For those who do not know, Android phones lack this feature due to power constraints but since the battery packs are pretty huge inside the tablets, this feature is available for use. It does works but requires a use of an adapter in Galaxy Tab 10.1.
