Best Linux Firewalls
According to Wikipedia, A firewall is a part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications. It is a device or set of devices which is configured to permit or deny computer applications based upon a set of rules and other criteria. In this post, I am going to talk about the software firewalls
1. IPCop – http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/ipcop/wiki
The best, but could be better if they improve the interface a bit
2. ClearOS Enterprise – http://www.clearfoundation.com/Software/overview.html
It is a well-balanced and appropriately featured firewall.
3. eBox Platform – http://www.ebox-platform.com/
The interface is dull, but offers so much more than an ordinary firewall
4. Monowall – http://m0n0.ch/wall/
Nifty if you use embedded systems. Not brimming with heaps of features, but gets the job done.
5. PfSense – http://www.pfsense.org/
Just serious firewall. Nothing else
Special mention – Smoothwall Advanced 2 – Great, but is its 1250 pound price tag worth it?
