Samsung has added 13 inch ultrabook to its Series 5 range which is mere 14.9mm thick and weighs in at 1.4 kilograms. It is powered by the new Core i5 ULV (ultra low voltage) processor (sorry, no AMD ultrabook this time) and features an SSD (optional hard disk) and 8GB RAM for amazing performance.
Specs – 13.3 inch display, 500GB HDD with 16GB SSD for faster boot, Core i5 ULV processor, Intel HD graphics, VGA, HDMI, LAN, 3x USB ports (v3?) and most importantly, an optical drive.
Samsung will be equipping its Series 5 13 ultrabook with ExpressCache technology that will enable you to boot the notebook from hibernation in just 7 seconds and from sleep mode to wake up in mere 2 seconds. It will probably reach US in Q1 2012 and for now, the Series 5 13 inch ultrabook is being released only in South Korea for about 1100 dollars.
This notebook is a great alternative for those who wished for a Samsung 900X1B with optical drive.
