Samsung ZX310 Review
Most of the companies are just busy churning out tablets to rival the iPad. However, Samsung has its evil eyes on the Macbook Air. Samsung ZX310 (aka 9 series) is thinner than the Macbook Air and packs more power inside. The body of the ZX310 is amazing. Made out of an alloy called Duralumin, it provides 2x strength than aluminum and still manages to keep the weigh under 1.3kg.
The ZX310 (9-series) has a matte finish all over it, which means no more nasty fingerprints. When the notebook is snapped, it looks like business folder. Under the bonnet, you will find a Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD (solid state drive) and a 13.3-inch display packing 1366×768 pixel resolution. It runs Windows 7 and comes with a lithium polymer battery, 1.3 mega pixel camera and a touchsensitive gesture touchpad. While the touchpad is great, it is still no where near the glass touchpad used in the Macbook Air.
In our tests, it took 14 seconds to boot up (Samsung claims 12 seconds, but I am not complaining). Performance-wise, the integrated Intel 3000 HD graphics beat the Macbook Air’s Nvidia GeForce 320GM GPU in benchmarks. The ZX310 had no problem playing full HD content (both local and YouTube) and it handles multitasking like a charm. I am yet to see how the battery performs, but I am looking at around 4-5 hours of runtime.
Bottom Line – If you have been waiting for a Windows version of Macbook Air, your wait is over. Get the Samsung ZX310 and you would not be disappointed.
