Galaxy S: AOSP, MIUI ICS

Yes, we have been doing a lot of Galaxy Note news and Galaxy S3 coverage but we have not forgotten the smartphone that made Samsung the king of super-phones – Samsung Galaxy S (first generation). Developers at xda have churned out a ROM that does not comes with Touchwiz UI and is build from its official Android sources.

The firmware is said to be error free. Here are how to flash it:

* Do a factory reset
* Flash ICS333-1.1-signed.zip (link) in CWM Recovery
* Flash the GAPPS (link)
* Reboot. If you have followed these instructions, you won’t have lost any data.
* If you notice, after updating, that your media (photos, music, videos) appears twice in Music and Gallery apps, just clear "Media Storage" data (Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear data) and reboot. Then, just wait a long while (it can take even 1 hour depending on the amount of media files you have in your phone).

Note – XDA has ported galaxy s3 touchwiz to galaxy note just few days back and it works like a charm.
