Asus TF201
We have just come to know the Transformer 2 will be called Asus Pad Transformer TF201. The TF201 will use the 5 core Kal-El, which is most likely Nvidia Tegra 3. While there might some other minor cosmetic improvements over the TF101, the major jump will be there in the performance department as Tegra 3 is almost 1.5 times as powerful as the Tegra 2.
In the GLBenchmark 2.1 benchmark, the Nvidia Tegra 3 scored a whopping a 53 FPS while the Tegra 2 managed to get 29.2 FPS. Clearly, even though Tegra 3 is not twice as fast as Tegra 2, it is still noticeably faster. Tegra 3 got 40.6 FPS in Egypt Standard test while the Tegra 2 managed to get 21.9 FPS. Impressive.
The release date of this chip is sometime in October and expect tablets sporting this new chipset early 2012 or late 2011. Update – Read Asus Transformer Prime review (new name for the Asus TF201)
