Download CM10 for Google Nexus 7

Google Nexus 7 was the first tablet to ship with the Android 4.1 operating system but that has not stopped the folks at xda to build custom firmwares for this successful tablet. One of the first ROM to trout out of xda community is infact, CyanogenMod 10 (full form of CM10). As expected, the firmware is based on Android Jelly bean operating system.

However, (and again, as expected), it comes with CyanogenMod enhancements that include support for USB OTG, customizable lock screen and more options for the power widget. USB OTG support will be enjoyed by those who want to use a USB flash drive with their mini tablet.

Keep in mind that this is not the official CM10 firmware as xda member has merely compiled his own firmware based on the freely available Cyanogen source code. To install it, you must root Nexux 7 and install CWM recovery. After that, download the firmware from xda forum (link) and flash it in recovery mode. To be on the safe side, just make a backup before flashing the new ROM on the nexus 7.
