Gigabyte S1082: Price, specs
Gigabyte has released a new slate PC called S1082 with 10 inch screen, dual core Intel Celeron 847 processor for just 599 dollars. The screen is multi touch, capacitive and packs 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The S1082 runs Windows 8 (Windows 8 Pro is optional) and features 320GB/500GB HDD or 256GB SSD. The SSD version will retail at $799. Other specs include upto 8GB RAM, SIM card, multi card reader, optional 3.5G antenna, 1.3 mega pixel camera (for video calls), 802.11n Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth 4.0 and 2700mAh battery. Despite packing all that, it is just 0.59 inches thick, which is pretty amazing given its slew of connectivity options and ports. It comes with a docking station that adds a DVD burner as well.

The Gigabyte S1082 is great for somebody who is looking for something like Viewpad 97i but with windows 8 pre-loaded. Also, if you want to be one of the first to own a tablet running Windows 8 and want more functionality than the Microsoft Surface RT and ATIV Tab, then there are not many choices out there.
