August 28, 2016 By Gary Sanchez

Before purchasing a powered wheelchair, you will want to choose the type of wheel drive that you will prefer based on the speed and precise turning ability.

Front Wheel Drive Wheelchairs

It moves at a lower top speed and provides good turning ability. It’s stable on uneven terrain and it even allows you climb over small obstacles as well.

Mid Wheel Drive Wheelchairs

It has the best turning capability out of all types of wheelchair. However, it is not suitable for uneven surfaces.

Rear Wheel Drive Wheelchairs

It is the most common type and it can drive fast. It has the speed that every user want however, it has a poor turning capability compared to front wheel drive and mid-wheel drive wheelchairs.
